Fire is the consumptive element, it devours and destroys its subject, literally transforming it into ash. Gone is the former incarnation, transformed to a lighter material, able to catch flight in the wind or be absorbed into the earth. When we observe the earth's transformative patterns, we can see that rebirth isn't always pretty or painless. But when we can relate our own transformative patterns to the natural cycles of change around us, we are able to observe renewal as a universal condition.
