Is it possible for us to slow down so that we can properly learn, effectively apply, and actually enjoy what we are doing? I think so! It may be so hard at first, as we strive to be one step ahead, making the most of every minute. But after some practice, I believe that slowing down and truly observing and engaging will give us more than it will cost.
Attitude and Action, How We Animate Our Practice
From a pure intention comes a pure action. The action of participating as our most authentic self is one of the greatest gifts we have to offer to ourselves and others. Our asana practice and our life off the mat are one and the same.
What are mala beads?
Mala beads are also known as prayer or meditation beads. Use of them originates in the Hindu and Buddhist traditions, but anyone can use these beautiful talismans in daily life. Malas are used in several capacities; to deepen focus in meditation, tether intentions, and even to set a duration of prayer or meditation practice.
Self-love...but how?
I think when we endeavor to tackle a concept as broad and challenging as how to cultivate self-love, it's important to remember that it can be just as difficult to find love for our strong spots as it is for our tender spots. With energetic nurturing, we are celebrating the diversity in our pattern, and as one of my favorite teachers Matt Kahn says, "loving what arises".
The Path of Knowledge, Jnana
I don't think that it's clichè to say that "knowledge is power". When we are equipped and informed, we feel connected to a subject, capable of taking on challenges within the realm of that subject, and we are more likely to share with others what we've learned.
